Welcome to Hangout's Story of the Week!

hosted by Suggi

Are you an aspiring writer? Do you have stories to tell?

Welcome to the first edition of Story of the Week (SOTW)!

Hello aspiring writers! Story of the Week or SOTW is a weekly showcase of literary talent where we discover fresh stories every single week. It is our job to showcase all the great stories our aspiring writers want to tell, and this is the chance to release your inner creative writer!

Before we start announcing the winners, I would like to congratulate and thank everyone for a successful first edition of Story of the Week. All of your entries are wonderful, it touched my heart so much and I cannot be more grateful. Hope I see you all on another edition, you all did great and I'm proud of you all.

Before deciding the winning entries, we take a look on the following objectives;

Grammar, Technicality to rules, Relevance to the theme and Overall construction of the story.

Now let's start announcing the winning entries!

The story of the week goes to...

The winning entry started off strong and ended strong but with two different atmosphere to it. The first half being the ominous feeling of something not being right and it almost tickled me a bit into thinking what kind of freedom is this, but at the end we get to see what the poem is about; a reflection of our messed up society and the importance of our freedom to expression. Great entry this week.

Other than the winning entries, we award these two runner-up entries for coming so close!

The first runner up entry goes to...

(#1) Mimiyuuuh

(My Name is Trixie Marie)

A great contender to this week's theme. The commonality of this theme used by the writer is something but marvelous because even if it's common it was a great theme to use because it tugged the right heartstrings with it's fast-paced flashback storytelling that ended with it's strongest point; the ending.

The second runner up entry goes to...

(#2) Raphael

(The 12th)

Another great contender for it's simplicity in theme but masterful in building the atmosphere of the story and the conveyance of emotions throughout the main character's inner monologue grabbed a lot of emotions towards me while I was reading. Anyone who would read this would feel hurt because you would feel the grief and joyful sadness the main character is feeling, regardless of experience.

In addition to the winning entries, our weekly honourable mention goes to this story by:

(Freedom of Choice)

Congratulations to everyone and claim all your prizes from Suggi!
